Strike from soft point .223 (nearly 5.56mm) LH, Small rifle primer, centre for comparison, 7.62mm NATO FMJ RH, at 25yds.. Will withstand rifle fire with FMJ or SP ammo, with impact velocity below 2900fps. 223 shows more, shallow crater due to the high vel at 25yds 3200fps.

It is a basic engineering fact, that sharp corners and/or areas of dramatic changes in thickness, particularly in hard/brittle materials, accumulate stress from vibrations caused by repeated loading of the part. Plates which have lugs or ears, with attachment holes in them, eventually crack where the lugs join the plate with sharp corners, after repeated hits. Previously, we have avoided this by cutting the holes directly within the body of the circular or square plate, impinging on the target area. We have now designed plate with the hole placed outside the nominal target diameter. We have enclosed these holes inside a hyperbolic curve, to make smooth the transition between parent plate and the material surrounding the hole.Thus reducing, dramatically, the tendancy to crack at these points. |  |  | Best results from pistols 9mm with factory loads and up, including major PF loads.Shotgun and min 5.56 Nato rifle.
